Attention OWNERS of MINI Coopers, model years 2002-2003: 2002 and 2003 MINI's were manufactured with the engine auxiliary cooling fan and the power steering cooling fan both on the same electrical circuit and fuse.

These early models also had a power steering cooling fan that was not optimally designed, and would in many cases seize up due to its exposure to the elements, then blowing the fuse in this circuit. This could then cause an engine overheating situation when in traffic as the auxiliary cooling fan is no longer working due to the blown fuse.

We have seen a number of these in our shop and have rectified the situation with the installation of a kit which MINI has provided that includes a new wiring harness that separates the two fans into their own respective circuits, and a new redesigned power steering fan motor.

We make it a point to check these on all '02 and '03 MINI's we service, but if you would like yours checked free of charge, please call for an appointment.
